Wesley Alfvin - The Night Before Christmas

‘Twas Christmas Eve all through the house
The stockings hung with care
No creature stirred, not even the mouse!
Saint Nick would soon be there
Children nestled snug in beds
Visions of sugar plums in their heads
Mom in kerchief, I with cap
Had settled down for a long winter’s nap
Just then outside I heard a crash!
Went to the window like a flash
Saw a big red sleigh so lively and quick
It had to be Saint Nick!
He called Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen
Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen
Eight reindeer plus Rudolph too
Up to my rooftop they all flew
Just then up there on the roof
I heard each reindeer hoof
Before I could turn around
The chimney he was down
Dressed in fur from head to foot
His clothes were stained with ash and soot
Eyes twinkly, dimples merry
Cheeks were rosy, nose like a cherry
He was chubby and plump
A right jolly old elf
I laughed in spite of myself
A bundle of toys he had on his back
He filled our stockings from that sack
Then laying a finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose
He sprang to his sleigh
To his team gave a go
And away they all flew, as you already know
He called Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen
Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen.
Then he said as he flew from sight
Merry Christmas to all
Happy Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night!
