Shovel the Gravel - Faith

A sin carved in stone
As we've always been told
A stain on our birth
By mean of that mistake
They damned all human beings
To be purged as traitors

"Lord, I know I'm a sinner
Please forgive me for the original sin
And please guide me to become more like You
Please help me to watch my words and actions
And guard me from future mistakes and errors"

Can faults of forebears
Fall on unaware folks?
What justice is that?
Are we supposed to ask for grace?
Do we need to gain our absolution?
Is worth to struggle for a sign?
Or are our efforts meaningless at all?

What if they just lied
To set us in control?
What if they just made
A story on purpose?

I don't believe to be condemned to a life of slavery
Having someone that pretends
To show me how to live
I'll find my way to save myself
Provided there's the need
All I want is to be free
To learn from my mistakes

I won't believe
I won't submit
I'll be the judge of my memoirs
After this life
I'll pay my bill
No doubt, that will be the answer!
