Speedy Justice - I Miss That Bong

I miss that bong
It's the only thing my brother and me ever made
Just some pvc pipe from a plumbing job
Big hex nut for a bowl and screen from the kitchen sink
Glued up with duco, never quite dried
Smelled like a chemical spill when got too high
Never changed the water 'cept once when it spilled
Had to sell that couch, never smelled right again
It was dirty and makeshift a poor people pipe
Paraphernalia, could get you 15 to life
Back then we were rebels, today it's legalized
When he got busted we were kicked out of society
Made to pay for the rest of our lives
Kept out of good paying jobs, kept out of social protection
The richer families and the cops made us lower class citizens
I miss that bong, it was a way to buck the system
Turn our back on the families and authorities all against us
We could have flown straight and stayed clean
But they'd have ghosted us anyway
It's just like that now and yesterday
I smashed it on the big rock under the tree
They day they called and told me
I threw the pieces in the big green lake
Shed one tear that was all I could make
Vowed to never get high again
Lost my best and only friend
I kept my promise boys long as I could
Tried to do what I should
I missed so much about what it's like with family
I missed everything that was anything to me
Still remember what it's like to be a brother
No one's family no more
