@iHeartMemphis Lyrics and Profile

American rapper Richard Colbert, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, is otherwise known by his stage name @iHeartMemphis. He has gained much recognition for his first single, Hit the Quan, which was inspired by mainstream rapper Rich Homie Quan and produced by Buck Nasty in July of this year. The song, which first gained popularity after it was released on social network platform Vine, reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold over 336,000 copies across the US.

Known as a viral dance tune, Hit the Quan is described by Pitchfork as having “absurdist lyrics that jut outward at odd angles.” “Pull up on the block and do the dash like crazy!/ This chick is hella hot but I know this chick crazy!/ If I think she not then that makes me crazy!/ We are both thots so we are both crazy!" - as if mirroring the limbs-akimbo dance style that demands you "get down low and swing your arm!”

In 2015, the rapper was one of two men accused of gang raping a woman at a home on Long Meadow in Raleigh. He was charged with aggravated rape, reported NewsChannel 3, however he denies it, saying: “I was at the wrong place, wrong time, and my name got caught up in something.” He told the newspaper that he was planning to fight the charge, and was not going to let it get in the way of his music career.
