Irish band, The Script stem from a childhood friendship between lead singer Danny O’Donaghue and Mark Sheehan. The pair struck up a friendship when growing up in Dublin and originally formed part of a band called ‘mytown’ in 1996.
‘The Script’ was formed in 2002 when Danny and Mark met drummer Glen Power, who had been playing since the age of eight. The threesome produced three songs during a week’s holiday in LA and signed to Phonogenic in 2005.

Debut single ‘We Cry’ was released in April 2008 and peaked at number 15 in the UK Singles Chart. The band’s self-titled album was released in August of the same year and stayed at number one in the UK Albums Chart for 11 weeks. Their third single hit the UK charts in November 2009 and was released in the US in 2010 where it sold over a million copies and was certified Platinum.

Second album, ‘Science and Faith’ was released in the UK in August 2010, and entered the Irish and UK album charts at number one. O’Donaghue has said that the album was inspired by the effects of the economic crisis in Ireland.

In September 2012, #3 had its UK release, the album features lead single ‘Hall of Fame’ which earned the band their first UK number one single. The track features American artist will.i.am and stayed at the top spot for two weeks.

The band released their fourth studio album in July 2014. Titled ‘No Sound Without Silence’, the album has been described as a prequel to the Script’s debut album , with many of the songs being recorded on the road.

The Script have named Irish band U2 among their musical influences, in 2009 the band toured with their idols as a supporting act. They also performed as an opening act for Paul McCartney at a concert at New York’s Citi Field.
