Evan Upton - Black...

Ladies and gentlemen, we would like to thank you and welcome you to the White and Black
Club here this fine evening, where everything is and always will be white and black
For tonight's entertainment, we have the beautiful duo of Evan Upton and Joshua Lee Flowers doing
slam poetry over the beautiful piano you hear behind me
We hope that you are thoroughly entertained and that everything in your life will forever and always be white and black
Thank you
I look around at the world that we live in it's sort of odd
All the crazy stuff that I'm seeing feel like I live in oz
But half the stuff we can't even see with our naked eyes
Blinded by the beef that we're cooking atop of our red eyes
That's a distraction we take a knee we takin action
Like Colin Kaepen we go on ahead snapping back and
You getting mad like we hit your nerve but we knee jerk reaction
Ain't come to harm you but alarm you that we need your reaction
To make a change
We got a new fit but still in chains
You say it came then why is the fruit I'm seeing strange
It's holidays that ballin or the rap's the only way
And if I say a wrong word they still gon leave me out to hang man
To all my friends with fairer skin who fair defend I'm thankful
You don't pretend this don't exist so I'm forever grateful
Now to my kin with melanin who hatin them I pray you
Would see that crooked cops and Karen's aren't our fallen angels
It's all the systematic s- that we have left unbothered
Lord forgive me for my language I pray that I get pardoned
See that's the problem it's a sinful world we're living in
Where the only thing that's truly equal is the grace He gives
Amen amen
