Griot B - I Belong (feat. Haillie)

This land is your land
This land is my land
From California
To New York Island
From the redwood forest
To the gulf stream waters

This land, belongs
To me and you

I belong
I belong
I belong

I belong

We started as a statement taken from the enlightenment
Self evident for those who were writing it
Life liberty and pursuit of happiness
If your skin was white and if you owned a home with a wife in it
Our country tis of thee, a land lacking liberty,
Black lives mattered only while they were building things,
Considered property, profit but what's bittersweet is
We're the chocolate where this melting pot get is flavoring
Manifest Destiny sea to sea
Spread west replaced natives that roamed free
Took their land and send them to reservations
We believed God gave us the authority
Then we invite the Chinese, who came to this country for opportunity ,
They built the railroads with the black folk who were
Increasing profits and allowing us to speed to west from east
We started an intentional War
Took Mexican land and claimed it as ours
Manifest destiny, our God's will to have
We spilled indigenous blood soaked up the red with our flag
The Irish came the Italians too - some hated that
The nativist told these group to go sailing back
To their country but they charged up our economy
Like batteries working industrial factories
Social darwinism placed limits on races
That could enter through Ellis
Based on a system that ranked
Intelligences and ethics
By measuring skull shape of the races
We through Japanese Americans in cages, took their land
Muslims want to come in peace, instead we placed a ban
Countries that have citizens of color were undesirable for immigration
Now like back then
But The pilgrims immigrated
The Irish immigrated
Italians immigrated
Germans immigrated
They came to land with the plan
To gain prosperity through hard work or innovation
Today it seems we make the mistake
Of forgetting U.S constitution rights are based
Not by religion, wealth and not by race
But by birth in this place, this is our fate
If you're human natural rights can't be taken away
Inalienable even if you're alien to these states

Freedom of speech to question government was the mission
Of patriots questioning the government of Britain.
Freedom of religion , You don't have To be christian
You dont have to have a house that a nuclear family all lives In

You dont have to be straight love your own way
You dont have to love guns or pray how I pray
You can speak your truth, truly cus the truth of this song
Each and every one in this room, you Belong
