tony burrows music band - MY BEST FRIEND

This is the story of my best friend
Roxy was her name
A boxer dog who shared my life
Playing and raisin cain
Chewing shoes and chasing cats
Right around the bend
She made me laugh when I was sad
For she was my best friend

We walked those fields she dug some holes
For hours we did roam
She couldn't speak but a simple glance
Said all I had to know
Endless games and balls I threw
Finally took their toll
The love I saw in her eyes
Touched me to my soul

Years went by and she went grey
She was growing kinda old
She still barked and mounted guard
She was gentle but she was bold
From postmen to those pizza guys
She let the whole world know
But one day she ran no more
Her time had come to go

She passed away and how I cried
You know I miss her so
I see her face behind the door
Waiting 'till I came home
When it comes my turn to quit
In heaven I'll make amends
She'll be sitting there watching out for me
'Cos I am her best friend
She'll be sittin' there watching out for me
'Cos I am her best friend
