Just got my letter from the state

Finally off supervision

I got two DUI's because my car smelled like weed
Five years of state probation
100 days for a violation
23 hour lockdown for 2 weeks
But you know
I'm still coming down Penn Avenue smoking as usual
I remember speeding through every red light when my mom called my work crying, said somebody just climbed through the bedroom window while she was by herself
And I knew it was from drug traffic I brought that caused her to feel unsafe at home alone with an intruder
Used to love selling, smoking, and boosting the whole lifestyle we got addicted to it
You don't know shit about where I come from, or what caused me to go through what I've been through
So I got a list as long as Thomas Boulevard of true stories, and I could give a fuck if you approve of them
You couldn't stomach this shit
If you went through what I did, you'd probably still be in Western Psych with the loonies
I think how come I knew a rapper that bragged about serving heroin to users in his videos, just to overdose after he eventually used it
We might believe in different things, but all of the same laws in The Universe rule us
There's no such thing as something for nothing
That means if you lose faith in your music, and do some shit for attention, or ride another man's fame
You might catch a buzz but it won't last for long
You'll pay that cost, and there's really nothing else to it
I remember 2015 feeling like a shell of a man walking from Southside to Beltzhoover
Up to no good
Helen gave me the boot, and the only place I had to choose from was a group home with 2 beds to a room, or under the bridge on state probation
Man I really thought I just can't do this, staring up at the roof thinking if I jump I hope I don't feel it man
I hope Drew finds me lord knows his mom, and sister are more in tune to their emotions, and the shit we put people through there's no excuses
I prayed that God would erase all the confusion that causes me to do stupid things, and It did
So now if I start shit then I know exactly what I'm doing
The only thing that being a human ever proved to me is
I don't want to be a fucking thing like ninety nine percent of the ones I grew up with
