Angry Nils & The Replacements - Ma did her best

I remember I was young father was often drunk
Hunger and fear were my friends no money in our dirty hands
Just two acres of stony field to plant some maize and some wheat

And Ma did her best to take care of the rest of our family

Pa left us with a grin for some whores and for gin
Oh we tried to survive in the frosty winter of '55
All I had was an old guitar I learned some chords so far

And Ma did her best to feed the rest of our family

After two years of exercise I met three other guys
We formed a Rockabilly-Band had some gigs cross through the land
We had some fun, girls and drugs and party-time in all this clubs

And Ma did her best to save the rest of our family

We never had success so far, I collapsed on the whiskey bar
The band felt apart oh bro that was really hard
So I went back to mothers home to the dusty fields near San Anton'e
One two three four

And Ma did her best to pray for the rest of our family
