V Squad - Contentment

I used to want it all til I could afford it
Borderline hoarder, closet with never worn Jordan's
Polo horses needing stables my Ralph Lauren laundry list
Is getting arduous, pardon I'm speaking honesty
Caz now I admonish buying to get fly just to floss on ya
But prior I was copping to feel a sense of accomplishment
Preposterous and not to mention the obvious but of course
Man, there's always gone be somebody out there that has more
And tryna keep up with the Jones's gone lead to me being broke
Til one encounter redirected my focus
One day a homeless man approached me out of nowhere asking could I buy him food
Lying to him, in a rush I told him; nah can't do it
Got no cash on me homie, but his look of despair
As he shook his head and said, young man, money isn't my care
We just want to be fed, me and my doggy are starving
If you could swipe your card or check your car for any loose quarters
Sorry to bother, I promise I got no drug or drinking problem
But if I'm to you a pest, I'll holla, God bless
And as he disappeared my spirit felt the deepest conviction
What's the meaning of riches if ya greedy with it and stingy
To overlook the needy and indulge in meaningless spending
Is like a Christian refusing to share the gift of redemption
And as much as it pains and shames me to admit this
It overall changed the way that I'll be living, that's with contentment
So how do we detach from the entrapment of this rat race
The crave to chase the fantasy life is so enchanting til we examine its contaminates
To be in this world, but to not let it so fascinate you
Tou waste away your days trying to obtain it all in vain
We all the same, the seed of greed's been brewing since our birth
A man's treasure truly just reveals what the heart thirst
It all hurts more when you think of the hard work
Put in to reach the top, opting not to put God first
Let's bow our heads and give
A confession of our sin then, live in repentance after asking forgiveness
No matter the profession that you cast your net in, to make ends
The Lord can, make you fishermen of men
A tangled web we weave since Genesis, Exodus through Deuteronomy
We find a way, to take from the Father and dishonor Him
Whole time God is saying; follow Me
Why roll the dice when life's monopoly, God's property
