I came home turned on the local news
Heard the factory had to cut loose
A few thousand workers
Cause some billionaire in LA

Does he know the pain
Does he know the hurt
To tell that person there out of work
Cause it's cheaper somewhere else somewhere new

Well I believe in small town people
Working hard on the weekdays, raise hell on the weekends
Still make it to church every Sundays
They barbeque outside and watch some pigskin

Cheer real loud for the underdogs
Help out each other when the goings tough
Yeah there's nothing like um so don't let them fade out
I believe in the small towns

Now there's one movie theater and general store
That's been there for a hundred years or more
But the big chains are slowly driving them away

To pay a few less doesn't seem right to me
Just to uproot all that history
And that families way of life

My dad was one of those workers cut loose from the factory
And I worked my way though college at that general store
And I still cheer and root for my friends and family back home
