Christopher Shellhammer - A True Friend On Lonely Christmas

Many strangers dropped a quarter or two in my tin cup
Feeling sorry for me?
Am I worth that much?
Am I still a person?
A passer-by buy me a bottle of red wine to keep warm
It helped chase the blues for the night
Others prayed for me in a hurry without any offer

I ached to be loved, to love someone
I am on a journey to figure out who we are
To figure out who I am

Years ago, a stray fluffy dog found me
Caring for my soul, my true friend all the while
While eating in the soup kitchen an hour goes by quickly
My fluffy friend sits outside
Awaits for my leftover dinner we share
Then head down to the town square
To see a tall glorious Christmas tree
Oh what a sight we see
I light a candle and sing Silent Night together
All night long for each other

I ached to be loved, to love someone
I am on a journey to figure out who we are
To figure out who I am

Our home is under the bridge
Where we snuggle under the warm blankets
Our eyes can't stay open forever and let them rest
Good night to you all
Have a Merry Christmas to all
Next Christmas we start all over again
