Summer 2019 is just getting started, and one tune has already hit the charts looks like it’s there to stay for the sunshine months.
That’s right, we’re talking about "Señorita" – the incredibly steamy hit single courtesy of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who have no doubt also brought a lot of sizzle our screens with their saucy music video as well.
The chemistry between Mendes and Cabello is tested and undeniable, for this is not their first collaboration together. The Grammy award nominees released in 2015 their smash hit 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' which made it to the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, and even won Best Pop Video at the iHeart Radio Much Music Video Awards.
And now, taking to our screens and ears again, the singers’ sultry duet gets us thinking about the prospect of a glorious summer romance. In the video, we see the pair salsa-ing their nights away in Miami, before sharing some alone-time in a hotel room.
But they still don’t wind up together?
Here’s a snippet of the lyrics (extra points if you sing this in your head):
I love it when you call me “señorita”
I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It’s true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For ya
Turns out, this song was in the pipeline for almost a year prior to its release just a few days ago, which Mendes admitted in an interview that: “It took me 10 months to convince Camila to sing this with me.”
Praise the lord, because now this catchy tune has started trending at #1 on YouTube – with good reason, as fans gear up for summertime sonatas, and perhaps to serenade their very own señores and señoritas.
Fair warning: this tune is likely to be repeated through the summer.
