Mic Flo - Affected

I feel surrounded by endless hating
Devoid of inspiration what's the point of dissertations
This is the situation, tribalism it is ancient
But we want change now, that's why we get impatient
But it's obvious we're trapped in this situation
This new anger burns 'til it lit frustration
That smolders and just gets bolder
Then we fight for our rights but we ain't no limit soldiers
We are at our limit, racist police action you can't defend it
Seem designed for hate crimes that's what they had intended
In the first degree I wonder if they'll murder me
The hate within's the premeditation, the insurgency
Doesn't want a win or a friend, we just want results
Cuz when you're filled with pain, you can't control impulse
And I'm repulsed and they saying that I got some privilege
But when I step outside, I don't feel it
I don't feel it
I just feel affected
And ineffective like

This is no time for choruses and melodies
When racists are still approaching us for felonies
And if they step to me, my degrees ain't protecting me
Or the justice system or my wisdom or some weaponry

Helpless, I practice how to be selfless
But I'm brutally reminded of the hand that life dealt us
I seek wisdom from my elders
And see racism has always overwhelmed us
And compelled us to misplace anger to hide from danger
So often to ourselves we've become strangers
At least until that anger gets renewed
But still it's seems it's only our actions that get reviewed
And our charges that get pursued and our rights that get refused
Use ignorance to flip the news cuz primitives won't flip their views
So we continue to get abused
Don't get it misconstrued it's not about win or lose
We've all lost we need to stop playing games
I'm tired of screaming that I matter and naming names
Exhausted from running fearing I'll be assaulted
From being in car fearing that I'll be accosted
Exhausted by being feared for just being
From feeling that the only solution is just fleeing
And they saying that I got some privilege
But when I step outside, I don't feel it
I don't feel it
I just feel affected
And ineffective like

This is no time for choruses and melodies
When racists are still approaching us for felonies
And if they step to me, my degrees ain't protecting me
Or the justice system or my wisdom or some weaponry
And it's affecting me
I just feel affected

Damn
