Paul Sadler - From Grey To Black

Through my window
The world outside pushing ever inwards
Oh these fibres that I weave
How quickly they unravel

So I dig myself further in
Is there no poetry within

How I crave the sun
If just to burn and purify
This outer layer of reality
And maybe scourge the rest of me

If there really is a 'me'
Or just the 'he' of someone else

And so is a stale end the only way to start afresh
And Oh How I cling to this liberating, cynical refrain
And if I loose the will to see this life in all it's colours
From grey to black, will I paint in shades of imagined lands

Though I would've fled so long ago
There still remains a shimmering reward
Lying buried in the ruins of a troubled life
A wasted life

Beyond the walls of this uncertainty
Lies a morbid fear of black eternity
And so I choose this fragile reverie
Another time
One final time

So I dig myself further in
There is no poetry within

And so is a stale end the only way to start afresh
And Oh How I cling to this liberating, cynical refrain
And if I loose the will to see this life in all it's colours
From white to black, will I paint in shades of grey
