Tristan Bushman - Illinois

My baby brother's birthday is next week
It's hard to believe that he's turning 14
My dad called and he said said they're missing me
and they wish that I could be there to see it

Every June since my sister passed
We'd go out and walk on the cemetery path
Send up balloons and talk about how old she'd be
This year I'm sending one from Tennessee

I don't know if I could ever move back home
To tell the truth there's nothing there for me
I'm sick of being tired and I'm tired of being broke
There's a lot I still don't know,
but I'm learning as I go
I guess how and where I'm living is a choice
And I'd sure love to hear my mothers voice
But I'm a long long way from Illinois

None of my neighbors know my name here
They don't even look me in the eyes
I got 2 more invitations to weddings that I can't attend
Yeah some kind of friend I am

I don't know if I could ever move back home
To tell the truth there's nothing there for me
I'm sick of being tired and I'm tired of being broke
There's a lot I still don't know,
but I'm learning as I go
I guess how and where I'm living is a choice
And I'd sure love to hear my mothers voice
But I'm a long long way from Illinois

I'm just trying to make a living I'm just trying to make a difference
I'm just trying to make my family proud
But I barely ever see them now

I don't know if I could ever move back home
To tell the truth there's nothing there for me
I'm sick of being tired and I'm tired of being broke
There's a lot I still don't know,
but I'm learning as I go
I guess how and where I'm living is a choice
And I'd sure love to hear my mothers voice
But I'm a long long way from Illinois
