Darryl Atherton - People Watching

Phones now have music to replace the ring
Doesn't matter much to me I'm people watching

The beggar on the corner just parked his Merc
He makes a better living than he did from work
Sitting here in the sun in the centre of town
Watching what's going on what's going down

Looking out from here for the fuss free transaction
Tempered by today's recluse and non-interaction
Young Lily waits for her partner in this place
As she waits a semi smile lingers on her face

Phones now have music to replace the ring
Doesn't matter much to me I'm people watching

Mind wanders back to when life was more prosaic
So much going on now it seems like a mosaic
Young mums with buggies under stress going plural
Scanning their profiles for tweets going viral

There goes the road rage guy like a matador
Barking through the car window like a Labrador
Remember today's friend is tomorrow's family
But only if they find time to do things properly

Phones now have music to replace the ring
Doesn't matter much to me I'm people watching
Doesn't matter much to me I'm people watching
