Pàppa D. - LA Stroll (What Do I Know, What Can I Say) ("Live At Kulak's Woodshed", 7.11.23)

It's good to have you here, man
It's lovely
Thank you
Always great to have you here on Twofer Night

Thank you again, Jimmy, for everything
And thank you for playing with all these other people, too
It's really good
Fabulous jacket
Thank you
Yes, the fabulous jacket
I like the hair
Thank you
Thank you, everybody
Thank you, everybody
Are we all set
I think so

Do I need to sing a little bit
Yeah, do we have a little reverb
I think we're good
Totally

Okay, thank you so much
All right, put your hands together for Pappa D.
All right, everybody
Thank you

Thank you again, Jim
It's very nice to be here tonight
The first song I'll be doing is called L.A. Stroll, and I wrote it in MacArthur Park
Hopping on a bus that just took me out there

I didn't really know where I was
So it's called L.A. Stroll, and I wrote it the first couple of weeks that I moved in
L.A., to L.A., and it was something like this

Lost in deprivation
Wither from inside
Rotten symbols of the past
That's winding up aright

Strolling daytime, to unknown
When neighborhoods don't feel like home
And it's lonely, oh, so very lonely

Aligning all the symbols
Well, now I think it's clear
The price of exploration
When you're simply shifting gears

Hesitant to leave you home
Making prisons on your own
And I'm lonely, oh, so very lonely

Will the odds be up against us when we take the final step
And all dramatic situations, I leave out with the rest
Will the gods be on our side, when the judgment day will come
Can I base a life decision by a stroll around the block

Well, I'm just a lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely guy
What do I know

Silhouettes and day time, appearing right of me
And fearful situations, are coming for their treat
How could any bell that rings, be toggled in such dreading things
Poor, bell lonely, oh, so very lonely

Do you think there are no people, that do face the same things we
Is it happening all around us, yet we just don't want to see
Do you think when bells start ringing, everybody will awake
On a blue day, birds will sing our songs and I'll be sad and grey

Well, I'm just a lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely guy
What do I know? What can I say
