Paul Cafcae - Single Flower in Her Hair

The other night I had the strangest dream
A lovely girl with the bluest eyes I've seen
With tender skin, and sunshine on her lips
Bright ashen hair and little dimples on her cheeks

There was a faint and faded shadow on her face
I looked at her and somehow knew she couldn't stay
I felt her sorrow, melancholy, and her pain
All the heartache that one heart cannot contain

She wore a single yellow flower in her hair
I'm pretty certain I'd seen it at the Scarborough fair
I tried to ask her about the sadness in her eyes
But she just smiled and disappeared into the night

And if you see her please tell her how I need her
And if she listens, please tell her what I could not say
And when she hears it, I hope she sends her smile to me
And until then, I'll see her smiling in my dreams

She wore a single yellow flower in her hair
I'm pretty certain i'd seen it at the Scarborough fair
I tried to ask her about the sadness in her eyes
But she just smiled at me and disappeared in the night

And if you see her please tell her how I need her
And if she listens, please tell her what I could not say
And when she hears it, I hope she sends her smile to me
And until then, I'll see her smiling
Until then, I'll see her smiling
Until then, I'll see her smiling in my dreams
