Brandon Jordan - Weight of the World

Sometimes I stay awake at night
Thinking about the heavy stuff that goes on in the world
I can't help but wonder what makes people act the way they do
Is it propaganda? Fear? Greed? Selfishness?
Are these the root causes or just the symptom of a want for self-destruction

Every day I see war, famine, pestilence, xenophobia, racism, religious zealotry, sexism
All things we could avoid if we could realize
That we're all part of this and we only get one shot

Could this be the end of the human race?
Will we leave this world in total disgrace?
Can we not bear the weight of the world?

Countless people have been lost to disease and starvation
Unusual storms are causing massive displacement
It's like something straight out of Revelations
Extreme greed has stopped every bit of progress we have attempted to build a better world
It's time to end the downward spiral

Corruption and greed have taken their course
We have allowed them to destroy our being
Do what it takes, reverse course
It can't end this way

Could this be the end of the human race?
Will we leave this world in total disgrace?
Can we not bear the weight of the world?
