Baby JR Lyrics and Profile

Lil’ Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., joined Cash Money Records in 1991 at the age of nine and became the label’s youngest member. After testing out the water with a variety of groups, he became an integral part of Hot Boys, who enjoyed success with major selling album Guerilla Warfare (1999).

The exposure he gained with Hot Boys proved to be essential when the rapper released his debut solo album, The Block Is Hot, in 1999. Certified as Platinum, this enabled the hip-hop star to get his music noticed in a mainstream environment. With his next two albums being certified as Gold, Lil’ Wayne became hot property within the music business. The same year that he released his fourth studio album, saw the rapper make a feature appearance on Destiny’s Child’s single Soldier in 2004.

It was his sixth album that made the rap star a global success, with Tha Carter III in 2008 selling over one million copies in its first week of US release. After a stint in prison for a weapon-related incident, and even having an album released whilst serving time, Lil’ Wayne passed Elvis Presley as the male with the most entries on the US Billboard 100 Chart in 2012 at 109 songs. The following year saw him team up with Future and Drake for single Love Me, which was received well by critics and music fans.

In his illustrious music career, the rapper has received countless awards and nominations. In a total of 155 music nominations, he has won 65.

Throughout 2014 and 2015 Lol Wayne has been embattled in a legal dispute with his record label over the release of the album, Tha Carter V. The singer claims that the label is refusing to release the long-delayed album.
