Nikki Lyrics and Profile

Nicki Minaj, a stage name for Onika Tanya Maraj, signed to Young Money Entertainment in 2009 and released her debut album Pink Friday shortly afterwards. Peaking at number one in the US Billboard 200 Chart, the album went Platinum a month after its release. In the same year as the release of her album, Minaj became the first ever female artist to have seven singles simultaneously on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The seventh of those, Super Bass, became certified as quadruple-Platinum and has become one of the best-selling singles in the US.

On the back of her knockout debut album, Minaj’s second album was destined for international success. Pink Friday:Roman Reloaded was released in 2012 and became one of the best-selling albums of that year, with single Starships also enjoying the title of best-selling single. The fifth single released from the collection of songs, Va Va Voom, is the singer’s best dance song many argue. The same year saw the female rapper collaborate with Alicia Keys for single Girl On Fire, which enabled Minaj to add her own spin on the track with two new verses (renamed Inferno), and Justin Bieber for Beauty and a Beat, which peaked at number five on the US Billboard 100 Chart.

Touring the world was inevitable, given the global success of both albums. The alter-egos which Minaj has become infamous for gave rise to two worldwide tours - The Pink Friday Tour and the Pink Friday:Reloaded Tour. Both sold out within hours, with fans desperate to get their hands on tickets.

Minaj has also branched out to other projects, becoming a well-liked judge on the 2012 talent show American Idol, releasing her own make-up range and developing her personal clothing line. In 2014 Minaj released her much anticipated third studio album, entitled The Pinkprint, leading to her third international tour.
