PJ Morton

PJ Morton Lyrics and Profile

Los Angeles pop band Maroon 5 started out in high school, playing music together in garages. In 1994 Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick formed ‘Kara’s Flowers’. The band released an album in 1997 which was not well received; bassist, Mickey later described the lyrics as ‘nonsense’. The friends regrouped in 2001 as ‘Maroon 5’. With new guitarist, James Valentine, the band were signed to Octane Records.

In 2002, Maroon 5 debuted their album, ‘Songs About Jane’ which peaked at number six in the Billboard 200. Second and third singles from the album, ‘This Love’ and ‘She Will be Loved’ were both international hits. Maroon 5 toured almost constantly for the next few years. The strains of a life on tour aggravated a sports injury of Ryan Dusick’s and the drummer elected to leave Maroon 5 in September 2006.

Dusick was replaced by Matt Flynn and May 2007 saw follow-up album ‘It Wont Be Soon Before Long’. The album sold over 101,000 records in the week of its release. Lead single, ‘Makes Me Wonder’ had been released to radio in March 2007, debuting at number 84. However by May the track had rocketed to number one on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs and was the top selling single and video on iTunes.

‘Hands all Over’ went on sale in September 2010 and saw the release of hit single, ‘Moves Like Jagger’. The track, which features Christina Aguilera, hit number one in the US in September 2011.

In March 2012 Jesse Carmichael chose to take a break from Maroon 5. ‘Overexposed’ was released in June of the same year and third single ‘One More Night’ topped the charts for nine weeks.

In September 2014, Maroon 5 released their fifth studio album, V. The album shot to number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 164,000 copies in the first week. In 2015 the band started a world tour.

Maroon 5’s diverse musical style is said to change with every album and the band have cited Prince, The Police and Michael Jackson as influences.
