The Band Perry

The Band Perry Lyrics and Profile

Sibling trio The Band Perry began singing together as young children. Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry were born in Mississippi but grew up together in Alabama. Singer, Kimberly, born in 1983, is the oldest of The Band Perry. Younger brothers Reid, born in 1988, and Neil, born in 1990, sing backing vocals.

As a teenager Kimberly sang in her own band and at the ages of eight and ten, her brothers began performing as an opening act called ‘The Mobile Music Machines’.

The trio came together to form a band, with Neil playing mandolin, drums and accordion and Reid playing the bass guitar. The Band Perry joined a ‘New Faces of Country’ tour in 2005 and were discovered three years later by manager Bob Doyle who helped the trio make demo recordings. The Band Perry were signed to Republic Nashville in 2009 and released ‘Hip To My Heart’ soon after. Kimberly single-handedly wrote follow up track, ‘If I Die Young’ which hit number one on the Country Music Chart.

The band’s eponymous debut album appeared in the charts in October 2010 and was certified Platinum in 2011. Fourth single, ‘All Your Life’ became their second number one single when it was released in February 2012. The band’s follow up album, ‘Pioneer’ was released in April 2013. The Band Perry have won acclaim for their tight, three-part harmonies which they say stem from familial closeness.

Neil said: “There’s a tightness between the three of us that goes way beyond even best friends.

“Family vocal harmonies can’t be fabricated and besides, the three of us know that through the thick and thin of life and the music business, we’re watching after each other.”
