Travis Greene

Travis Greene Lyrics and Profile

Born to Minister Charleather Greene and her husband in 1985, Travis Greene’s life was changed forever following an accident in 1989, when, aged just 4, he was pronounced dead after falling from a window. His mother prayed to God and Greene - nicknamed the ‘Modern Day Lazarus’ - came back from the dead.

Shortly after this near-tragedy, Greene’s father died suddenly from a brain aneurysm, an experience which led Greene on the road to music. “It was God’s way of giving me an escape from tragedy and crisis. I turned to the keyboard instead of to drugs and the streets. Any instrument I put my hands on I was able to play,” he told New Release Today.

In addition to playing numerous instruments, Greene writes and produces a range of musical genres and describes his music as being “accented with pop, melodic gospel, and energetic rock compositions.” His debut album, The More, which was released under his own label, Greenelight International, draws on his own experiences, such as the fall from the window, with songs such as My Testimony.

He has spent the last ten years working as a youth pastor, worship director and national recording artist and is releasing his new album this year, following his signing with label RCA Inspiration. Greene has played alongside numerous artists including Israel and New Breed, John P. Kee, Dottie Peoples, Tonex, Lee Williams and Debbie Winan.

While music plays a major part in his life, Greene is dedicated to the church, and together with his wife Jackie, is preparing the launch of the Forward City Church in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2016. His mission is to “declare war against the enemy and reclaim this generation for Jesus Christ”.
