Benjamin Fears - Time Capsule

Yesterday I drove to our home, Guess I’m gonna have to give it a different name.
You left our books out on the back porch, well they got ruined by the rain.
All the sad things that I’ve thought, or the sad things I could think.
Nothing hurt quite like the ruined pages, of love’s waltz in ink.

And I’m not mad at you love,
I know you did what you did to survive.
If I had one goal, it was keeping you alive.
But yesterday I dug up our time capsule, like a robber digging up a grave.
And I realized there were parts of you, only you can save.

All our beautiful poetry, All our conditions and terms
It’s all in the ground somewhere,
It’s just food for worms.

There wasn’t much else to say,
Not much else to do,
So I just buried a plastic bottle,
With the words,
“till this rots, I love you.”

It’s okay cause this morning,
I woke up just to see the sunrise,
And I wasn’t waiting on you or anyone.
And I think I saw it.
Yeah, I think I saw it for,
The first time.
