anne-marie akoh - pitted

Is it worth
All the hurt
Why take a slice of heaven if they'll
Drag you along with them down to hell
That's where everything
Soon ends up resting
Those little joys, well and poised, they can't seem
To remain joyful for as far as time can reach
You latch on to it, then
It becomes a chore when
You can't find incentive to try
To do what you loved. It's
something that you then wish
You'd never discovered ever
Doesn't it make you want to discard all of them
Before they can
Do away with what joy you have left
And leave you all rid and pitted
How could joy be worth
All of that hurt
Since little joys, well and poised, they can't seem
To remain joyful for as far as time can reach
So then would it be best
To never go invest
Any time tricking your mind that
You've gone and you've found it
Your little joy for you which
Makes you happy indefinitely, yeah
Really, it's just the fear of loss of a
Thing that you could not even hold dearer
Though they say
The joy's worth the pain
You latch on to it, then
It becomes a chore when
You can't find incentive to try
To do what you loved. It's
something that you then wish
You'd never discovered ever
So if it's really true
That it's better to lose
As long as you've loved
Then if music be the food of love, play on
