Great Odin's Raven - Deathwish

Up from the sticks with no sense of direction
Fear of high places and wide open spaces
Set on a path of destruction
Forged into a dull knife by relentless still life

Nine months in a hole
With only summer as a reprieve
Seemed like a good idea at the time
Nine months in a cold
And broken empty house
Is this what experience looks like

At least I made it out alive
And by alive I mean just breathing
I'm still breathing
Nobody makes it out alive
And by alive I mean just thriving
Nobody's thriving

I tried to turn the page on the shortest story
But it just turned out to be
Another chapter we've already seen
Never had a book give paper cuts
Go through my fingers and my guts
Try not to cause a scene

From an early age, we've all been programmed
To respect the hustle and live for the grind
After ten years of hindsight
And five hours of sleep a night
I'm starting to think it wasn't fucking worth it
