Chloe Geil - Best Friend Curse

Once upon a time, there were two girls about a decade ago or so
And she grew snow peas in her backyard
And played the piano while I couldn't even play the guitar

Fast forward a little bit, I met a strawberry girl
She was sweet like butterscotch and she had some sad stories to tell
We had crazy fantasies and we walked with a childlike clarity
Then I moved away and we forgot about each other

And it pains me to say that sometimes people change
If I can be honest, I really hated myself
I'm glad I grew up, but I miss all the stories I would tell

Go a lot further, cause there's a lot that I would like to skip over
I met someone special, she was like my soulmate best friend
We'd talk all night about all the things that didn't matter in the real world
But then she ran away and stopped talking to me unintentionally
Spring up to more recently, she texted me saying, I love you, and I cried just a little, more than a little

Then it pains me to say that sometimes people change
If I can be honest, I really hated myself
I'm glad I grew up, but I miss all the stories I would tell

Then I was on the stage, while she was in the audience
I somehow stole her french fries for dinner
And after six years, she no longer will say hi to me
She'll just throw something at me, and I'll look and we'll laugh and we know
But I, oh I, I broke her best friend curse

And it pains me to say that sometimes people change
And if I can be honest, I still really hate myself
I'm so sad I grew up, but I'm glad of all the memories I still share
With you, with you, I share them with you.
