Ken Brown - Lonely Street

I walked my way down a Lonely Street
No hope of my heart, chains at my feet and I'm going nowhere
I walked back down where I once belonged
No one noticed I was singing the same old song
Well I'm back where I belong
Back on Lonely Street
Feels like I, was never gone, from Lonely Street

Like living statues with vacant stares
Nobody there asks why, or even cares
I took some time to rest my head beside a bench-bound old man
Who softly said
"Well hello, I see you're back again
What do you think you'll find, there is no peace of mind
Nothing to be had, so let me tell you son
I see something in your eyes, something that lets me know
You don't belong on lonely street"

Well his words were soft but they hit me hard
If this ain't the place do I belong anywhere
Do I take my place with these freaks and geeks
Who's only line is that "it just ain't fair"
I'm surely lost, if I ain't home
On lonely street
The sun, it never shines
On lonely street

The old man he looked up, he tried to smile
Something he hadn't done, in many's a year
It was then I noticed in his eyes, I'm not the only one
Who shouldn't be here
So I stood up, I took him by the hand
He said "where are we going to, will we find the truth?"
I said "I don't know, but one thing that's for sure
We've wasted so much time"
Gotta find a way, out of Lonely Street

As we walked our way out of Lonely Street
Hope in our hearts, and the chains,
They fell off our feet
As we walked out of the place that we never belonged
I started singing this brand new song
Ain't going back, no no no
Back to Lonely Street
I'm back, back where I belong
No more lonely street
