77 Apes - Sojourner (John the Revelator Version)

Jesus he walked out in the desert now
Forty days and nights out in the heat
All his tragic wanderings
The serpent was coiled under his feet
And Lucifer said
Hey Jesus c'mon let's take a ride
Find some wine some women and some songs
Make some bread, fall down, c'mon worship me
We're here in the desert alone
And Jesus said
Get thee behind me Satan
Yeah I know all your wicked ways
Jesus looked over at that fig tree
Y'know it withered underneath his gaze
Said now Satan you know all about my wrath
How I broke the Temple and the Scribes
Now I got more important things to do
So I guess I'll just say goodbye
Jesus Walks
Jesus finds John the Revelator
Says my friend please come with me
I got to think about what's gonna happen
Let's go and pray out in Gethsemane
So now they're kneeling out there in the garden
Jesus gnashes his teeth as he cries
He says now John take care of Mary Magdelene
I'm gonna need you to care for her after I die
Jesus says I don't wanna go
Oh Father don't take me this way
Just let me stay here for another day
Jesus wept
Said I guess I gotta go
I'm gonna carry that cross
Tell my mother that I loved her most of all
Now before I hang up there on Cavalry
Please remember my words and my deeds
John the Revelator, take this down
Listen hard now and take heed
There's only one thing that I ask of you
Blass the meek, the poor and the youth
Be a Sojourner here in my Father's land
Please find beauty, love and truth
