Jump the Shark! - Hard Times (for Satirists)

Career opportunities, the ones that never knock
So which job do you take if you want to take a job
When the only thing you feel about society
Is rejection and a sense of disdain
But things always go down so much easier with humor

How about something creative
For your artistic vein
And always up-to-date with real politics

But these are hard times for satirists
Yeah, these are hard times for satirists

The revolving door in politics these days
Is spinning so fast you can't keep up the pace
And the instances of ethics and morale
Are even more corrupted than you can picture

But out there in this world
May be just one poor soul
Who starts to think things over because of a joke

Before I forget you might take some heat
And end up in jail or actually dead
'Cause people don't get "I'm offended!"
Is not a point to make for an argument's sake

In these grave times, are hearts and minds
Really won with bombs and guns?
The thoughts provoked through a joke
May even be more powerful
