Hexvessel - Older Than The Gods

I breathe
I speak
I sing
for the dawn

I grow
I sigh
I echo
Through the oak

I melt
I boil
I toughen
Like iron

I've weathered all these years
A riddle in the stone

For too long my story's been untold
Thaw my songs from the frost
Cast the spell of words unspoken
Older than the gods

We are tales that never should be buried
Pass my wisdom on
Where golden fields gamble with the sunlight
Older than the gods

I reach
I spread
I rake
Through the ground

I shine
I glide
I descend
into swamps

I colour
I copper
I brighten
The fires

I've forested the seeds
From marshes out-spreading

For too long my story's been untold
Thaw my songs from the frost
Cast the spell of words unspoken
Older than the gods

We are tales that never should be buried
Pass my wisdom on
Where golden fields gamble with the sunlight
Older than the gods

My fire would sing
As you carved me from stone
My voice in your axe
A prayer made of bone
The smith on his iron
When the symbol dawned
Painted on trees
Solemn the oath

Tools of stone
Then voice
in the axe
In the fire of dawn

These spells should not be buried
Carvings of spirals
Friezes of animals
Colossal statues
Excavations
Clothed in a shroud

Doorways to the dawn
