Pop the Weasel - The Lake

The time, the place, the lake, the trees
Water, sun, fire, breeze
Memories and history

Kids, the moon, stars and shoals
Falling fruit and glowing coals
Two friends and the mystery

Frank, you think maybe we got it right-least for tonight right here?
He answered with his eyes so bright- thought I just might have heard him say
It doesn't matter anyway

Rivers, roads and now the sea
Tunnels, downs and family
Sand and beer and brothers

Another time, a younger face
A father's warm embrace
Weddings, birthdays, mothers

Dad it's times like these I realise quite how time flies away
And the answer in his eyes still bright-thought I just might have heard them say
It doesn't matter anyway

Bridges, borders, now the bell
Rounds and laughter, tales to tell
And no one going nowhere

Vows kept, new ones made
Tall tales spun, old tunes replayed
Common place yet so rare

Seems I never knew that nothing lasts it's all just passed away
And the fault in friendship's frailty-like seed, like grass like hay
It doesn't matter anyway
