The Alaskas - Flowers

Flowers stand in a garden when the day is young
Watering once a day, leaving out to dry in the sun
Growing stronger and taller with every passing month
Bringing beauty and giving smiles to everyone
In the spring everything's just right for buds and bloom
She comes over and lays in the grass all afternoon
Runs her fingertips over the petals and the leaves
Through my garden of flowers growing endlessly
But winter came
And snow fell down
And what was once a field of flowers
Became a patch of empty ground
Tried my best to fertilize but the blade's already been drawn
Cut the stems, pull the weeds, sprinkle gravel over the lawn
No more petals, she's found another garden to lay
Should've stopped to smell the flowers..
They've all gone away
