Corrie Shelley - Mother Earth
As we all lie here sleeping, blind to the fact
That the world she is dying, we won't get her back
We've drained her resources for wealth and for greed
Polluted her waters, then cry when she bleeds
Stripped all her clothing, left her naked and cold
But in return, all we do is scold
Cos the climate, it's changing, the seasons have moved
And now natural disasters become everyday news
The fires are burning down all the trees
The ice caps, they're melting and swelling the seas
We're building on her green land like we have a right
Soon she'll be too weak to put up a fight
Cos we have taken much more than we've ever given
Then we pray to our gods in the hope we're forgiven
But she is our mother, our giver of life
But in return, all she gets is strife
So open your eyes now, wake up to the signs
Let's stop this destruction before we run out of time
Cos as we all lie here sleeping, blind to the fact
That our mother, she's dying, we won't get her back
