David Kirby - Of Pirates & Supermen

I guess I should apologise
For all the books I never read
That I borrowed from my dearest friends
Said I'd return and never did

And I think I need a new routine
Instead of staring at this tiny screen
To distract myself to fall asleep
Just hoping for some scrap of peace

And so I need to show myself some love
For all the times I've been broke and broken
And it's true when they say that a song can
Save your life but it's not this one

But you can, build a castle out of ashes
And you can, dance in the kitchen after 7 hazy IPAs
And you can, burn all your bridges down and build them back better again
And we can sit round the fire with your new friends and tell stories to each other

Of Pirates and Supermen

I guess I should apologise
To all I said I loved before
I meant it once of that I'm sure
But times a liar and I'm a fraud

And I need to be more grateful
To every wrong turn and blind alley
Every unmapped and uncharted valley
That me to my Grace O'Malley who will

Build me up when I've been demolished
And reads my mind when I come home with Rorschachs on my chest
And winds the clock down making every day Halloween
And we can sit at the bar with our bottles and cans
And tell our friends the story of a pirate and Superman

So I'm going to appreciate
My missus and not just my hits
I'll clean up my Metropolis
Here's hoping that the spandex fits
And I'm gonna show myself some love
For all the times I've been broke and broken
It's true when they say a song
can save your life and it might be this one

So build a castle out of ashes and
Dance in the kitchen after 7 hazy IPAs yeah yeah yeah
Burn all your bridges down and build them back better again
And we can sit round the fire with our new friends and tell them all the stories of

Pirates and Supermen
Yeah Pirates and Supermen
Yeah Pirates and Supermen
Yeah Pirates and Supermen
Yeah
Of Pirates and Supermen
