Third Rate - Why's

Why's it always end up like this
We end the night pissed
We're texting
Then the next thing I know
We're fighting through the phone
Writing responses like we're throwing stones
We both didn't want this but oh here we go
Again
I'm battling my best friend
The sword ain't much different from the pen

But It's weird
One day it's all smiles
The next, we're in tears
We end one argument, another one appears
We stir up dirt before the air's been cleared
Then it hangs over my head like a chandelier

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
Like you who loves me

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
Like you

But lately
It seems like you hate me
I know it's not so
But the thought's not crazy

Based on the way
That debating over dumb shit
Fades to berating
You call me a jackass
I call you an asshat
It moves so fast we're throwing personal attacks now
And we can't back down

I don't how
It gets this way
From 0 to 100 then a sideways 8
We can't unsay the things we said
But what if we went on a date instead

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
Like you who loves me

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
Like you

It's been a little while since we went Hanna park
So let's go there in the morning and stay till it gets dark

How bout Riverside or the zoo
Either one is fine if I spend time with you

But we don't have the time though
We live so far apart we exist in different time zones
Plus we gotta plan around and work and school schedules
We can't make dates Fate's cruelty's impeccable

But, when we're together
Babe, everything's better
Like, even the weather
Well you know what they say about two birds of a feather

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
like you who loves me

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
like you

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
like you who loves me

The road may be bumpy
But I still feel lucky
To have somebody
like you

I wish this was an easy fix
But when I try find to find the cure it causes more conflicts
I got some great date designed in my mind
But when we try them out
They're just fine

But it sucks
Cuz fines not enough
We can have a better time with you, me, some wine,
maybe some fuzzy handcuffs
But things can be so rough

Why's it always end up like this
We end the night pissed
We're texting
Then the next thing I know
We're fighting through the phone
Writing responses like we're throwing stones
We both didn't want this but oh here we go again
I'm battling my best friend
The sword
The sword ain't much different than the pen
