James The Heartist - Saffron

I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati
I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati

There are no exceptions to the rule, lest one revoke the vow
A curtain closed and a saffron robe fell
Many a note I wrote may hope prevail
An ancient soul has many unspoken tales
I broke the spell of unfettered letters
Take my word for what it's worth
Into the world for show and tell
A word is just a word, but a name is unlike another
I go by James, but have claimed, so many others
So many sisters, so many brothers
And may I do a lot of japa, and may I grow to be like papa
But may I realise in this lifetime that Sat-chid-ananda (Ahhh)

I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati
I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati

In this Kali Yuga it is make or break, we cannot take a break
All we do is take in this Age of Vultures
To make a generation great
Take the weight of an ape off the shoulders
Fake modern day saints taint sacred cultures
Like sacred sculptures laced with spray paint
Leave a bad taste, a bad trace of odours
The persuasive power of aromas
Mistaken snakes as sages, saviours as alligators
a Lotus flower sinking in a lake of allegations
Hari Ram! I see the harm in harmony
Look at the ramifications
"Truth is one, and paths are many"
Adoration and faith carries weight
But on this path, hearts are heavy
People pray and predators prey on the people
Is that the price that you pay? to the Guru

And to the Sangha I know you sad
But I only ask you be Sadhu
Cast aside happy and sad
I know you mad, but this I guarantee you can do
Emotions just pass through
Cry when you feel pain
But don't you cry when you laugh too?
Tears are just water under the bridge
Welcome to Satchidananda
Is this bliss attractive
I ask you, what is it you attach to?
Me, I keep a couple handfuls of cashews
Just enough to crack the nut, and debunk the taboo
You see attachments can be a hassle
And can hang around like a tassel, until they have to be cut
Aspirants do what you have to travel gradually up
And reach a place that's absolute natural

I got a bad taste of Saffron
Saffron, saffron, saffron, saffron
I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati

I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati
I got a bad taste of Saffron
I'll be damned to see, tattered threads of a Sannyasi
A tainted tone of Saraswati

I got a bad taste of Saffron
