The Dave Howard Singularity - A Self Addressed Letter

Just suppose you knew
When you're due to go
When your time is through
The end of the show

Your greatest obsession
Will it get a say
Whomever you serve
Do you obey

Someone would miss you should
You decide to leave
These pages of photographs
Could help you believe

That sweet sounding dissonance
Plays in your ears
Sings - Long live the ignorance
Of prejudice fears

Chasing that dream
Was like passing a stone
Don't waste a life
Not even your own

A half hearted happiness
Comes over your eyes
A picture of loneliness
You feign your surprise

The season of apathy
Grows with the cold
Embrace all that hopelessness
Make it do as it's told

What you revere
Don't let it go
It means something to you
And at least you will know

It might not change the world
It may speak to a few
But it's your contribution
It's a gift born by you

That feeling of uselessness
Could be waving good-bye
At least make a go of it
At least you can try

The secret to happiness
As I had to learn is
Hold no great expectations
And don't mind getting burned
