She takes an airplane to L.A.
Her excitement can hardly be contained.
She waited so long for her
Loved one to heal

That it seemed she would never get there.
Polly hugs her at the terminal.
There's so much to catch up on.

They've been apart for two entire years
And a lot can change during that time.
Her friend (Polly) doesn't seem as spunky as she once was.
However, she looks her in the eyes

That seem to have lost their shimmer.
In fact she noticed over the phone
That she waxed poetically less.
Which was a relief to her at first.

Since she always had a pretentious side
That she didn't relate to
And would ridicule her about
But her friend insists there's nothing amiss.

So the two head off to where they were staying.
She mailed her checks to help with the bills
Therefor she didn't feel bad about
Claiming a.part of it as her own

But she won't believe what went on without her.
