Christmas was a joyous time for us, a happiest time for us
My mother and father done what they could to give us, what they could give us
Didn't have a lot of money, and so I was thankful it was a happy time for the family
Woke up this morning and I'm feeling so blessed, it took me a minute to gather myself
And I'm so excited, About whats waiting for me, like all of my friends and my family
Everyone's so happy this time of the year, with Santa gift exchanges and holiday cheer
I'm so thankful and grateful that I might shed a tear
Lord, it's a blessing, you know I'm not stressing

For everybody that's lost their special someone, the memory I'm still living on
And I can still remember Uncle Basil, in the kitchen cooking yams with my aunt
I can smell Mama's sweet potato pie, those memories will never die
So as we bow our heads and we pray, let's all thank the Lord for giving us grace

Christmas to me is the most memorable time for family
And that's what my mother and father instilled in us
My father made it a point to let us realize, because we come into the close of this year
it was because of God's grace and mercy
And before we played with any toy, we had to pray and give God thanks
So it was more than just the toys and the gifts and all the celebration
It was for our family to be in love and in peace with God
knowing that it was God's grace and mercy that brought us all safe and sound
to that one particular day, Christmas
