NoiseArt Collective - Only Just Scratched the Surface

It is said we only use 10% of our brain
It's a myth of course
In true scientific miscommunication fashion
The works of psychologists William James and Boris Sidis
In the 1890s that people only meet a fraction of their full mental potential
Was simplistically summarized in the 1920s and 1930s as
There is no limit to what the human brain can accomplish
Scientists and psychologists tell us we use only about 10% of our brain power
While it's a myth that we only use 10%

The fact remains that when it comes to what you can do
You have only just scratched the surface

Of course, when we think of achieving our potential
We tend to think narrowly, academically
Scientifically, professionally
Do we ever think artistically
You could be a great sculptor, a great painter
A poet, novelist, musician, orator, actor or playwright
You could sketch the stars or shape the earth
Invent, explore or lead

When it comes to what you can do
You've only just scratched the surface

Your sense of self has been shaped
By limits you've put on yourself
Or limits you have allowed others to place on you
When you have nothing to lose
Those limits won't apply
You may have started to dig deep into who you are
But believe me

When it comes to what you can do
You've only just scratched the surface
