Derek Wayne Douglas - Shadows

Livin' life in the shallows
Depression's a battle,
I've been down in the valley,
Kickin up gravel
Now I'm an adult,
Up Creek, no paddle,
No sheep, no cattle,
Still sleep with the shadows
But I'm older now,
And I'm wiser,
So I gotta hold it down,
Cause I'm a survivor
Of the shadows
Check it,
Depression,
When fear's the obsession,
The years of regression,
Could've been years of progression,
The years I put stress in,
All the tears and confessions,
I'm still here
I'm still sweatin',
I still got questions,
But I'm
Puttin' my best in,
No regrets, no second guessin',
Been through several messes,
Been through hell and left it,
You might can't tell I felt it,
Mental health, unhealthy,
I'm needin' help with this,
Yeah, can somebody help me
Slept in on deception,
Cause since conception,
My thoughts was weapons,
To be used as blessings
Through many lessons,
From transgressions, in my adolescence,
Heaven's essence in every message,
So yes, I must confess his presence,
The weather is cold,
You already know,
What's better than gold,
Is lettin' it go, so I let go,
Livin' life in the shallows
Depression's a battle,
I've been down in the valley,
Kickin up gravel
Now I'm an adult,
Up Creek, no paddle,
No sheep, no cattle,
Still sleep with the shadows
But I'm older now,
And I'm wiser,
So I gotta hold it down,
Cause I'm a survivor
Of the shadows
Check it, I think I got a message,
And I suppressed it,
Couldn't digest it,
Without introspection and correction,
But my perception,
Of imperfection,
That was a misconception
I had the wrong impression, in succession,
I made the wrong connections,
Then these projections
And bad suggestions,
Turned into bad expressions,
Now now my mind infected,
And I don't wanna accept it,
It's tryin' to possess me, yeah,
But I won't let it get me,
The weather is cold
You already know,
What's better than gold,
Is lettin' it go, so I let go,
Livin' life in the shallows
Depression's a battle,
I've been down in the valley,
Kickin up gravel
Now I'm an adult,
Up Creek, no paddle,
No sheep, no cattle,
Still sleep with the shadows
But I'm older now,
And I'm wiser,
So I gotta hold it down,
Cause I'm a survivor
Of the shadows
