Lil Fytr - Live by Faith

Lemme take you back in time with this little rhyme
To a point in time when a nation was trapped in sin
Before COVID, a nation's rebellious anarchy
Against Yahweh God -- Creator, Almighty
Got a prophet crying out, "God, do something"
And God replies, "Watch what I'm revealing
It's gonna get ugly, but what were you thinking
When it involves sin, things get disturbing
Babylon's coming--gonna catch you like some fish
Cuz judgment must come when My glory gets dismissed"
The prophet screams, "That's not fair--they're worse than us"
And God says, "Nope! In Me, you must trust"
In Habakkuk 3:5, God's surrounded by plague and pestilence
Which means that plagues reveal God's imminent presence
So fast-forward twenty-six hundred years and see
Our whole planet is in rebellious anarchy
Though the fruit fail on the vines
And the world's economy dies
My trust is in God despite my sighs
Live by faith -- live by faith
Live by faith -- live by faith
Follow Habakkuk's lead: Live by faith
If we want our lives to count in these confusing times
We must trust Christ amidst our sighs
I hope you see what I'm laying down here
I equated COVID to divine judgment--but don't fear
Cuz if we live by faith in this most weird year
Fixing our eyes on Jesus -- our lives He'll steer
And I don't care which camp of Christian you speak to
Almost all would say that Revelation previews
The end of the world -- God's judgment distributed
So whenever the end comes -- Christ is coming soon
And it's not a stretch to say that COVID is judgment
God's wrath revealed on those whose sin is pungent
God's wrath revealed on those who want to toss Him away
God's wrath revealed on sinners--why I must proclaim
That even if I'm wrong, the Gospel must be spread
People turning up dead--the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:23 -- "turn to Jesus" is what I've said
And now I really hope that this song sticks in your head
Though the fruit fail on the vines
And the world's economy dies
My trust is in God despite my sighs
Live by faith -- live by faith
Live by faith -- live by faith
Follow Habakkuk's lead: Live by faith
If we want our lives to count in these confusing times
We must trust Christ amidst our sighs
Don't get me wrong -- faith doesn't come easy
It's why it's a gift -- under your Christmas tree
Righteousness is also a gift from God -- free
So faith is the same -- can't return; no receipt
But when life grows scary, and everything is out of whack
It's easy to get thrown off track -- panic attack
But God says, "Come to Me -- I've got your back"
And when I trust Him by faith I'm able to relax
So I might not have a job -- just these thots in my brain
Putting them on paper is slow like the right lane
And my wife will need my income to help us sustain
Our one-flesh union starting soon -- I could complain
But then I think of Habakkuk and his journey of faith
And I think of the vision he saw -- all the pain
And I think of how his message has helped to sustain
Many individuals -- and I know I must refrain
(Have faith)
Though the fruit fail on the vines
And the world's economy dies
My trust is in God despite my sighs
Live by faith -- live by faith
Live by faith -- live by faith
Follow Habakkuk's lead: Live by faith
If we want our lives to count in these confusing times
We must trust Christ amidst our sighs
If we want our lives to count in these confusing times
We must trust Christ amidst our sighs
