Stephen E. Peckham - Figures (feat. Elizabeth Peckham)

Figures

I see the figures in the dark
Their shadows pass me by
All gathered round each other, stark
My mind begins to fly

I wonder why I'm not allowed
To join their deathlike horde
Maybe I am still alive
And this party's all their deadly tribe

My mind plays tricks when I'm asleep
These figures are not real
They do their ghoulish dance about
Not caring how I feel

No one has noticed I am here
They instill a lifeless fright
When all at once they stop their dance
And start to make a cry

An evil howl came from them all
They summoned with a call
Something more evil, more grotesque
Than all of them, but worst of all

My mind plays tricks when I'm asleep
These figures are not real
They do their ghoulish dance about
Not caring how I feel

A devilish figure came flying by
A move I did not make
It was a phantom of myself
This must be a mistake

Wake up, wake up, this can't be true
This world cannot be mine
I need to go, return to bed
For there I know I'm fine

My mind plays tricks when I'm asleep
These figures are not real
They do their ghoulish dance about
Not caring how I feel

Wake up, wake up, this can't be true
This world cannot be mine
I need to go, return to bed
For there I know I'm fine

My mind plays tricks when I'm asleep
These figures are not real
They do their ghoulish dance about
Not caring how I feel
