Jerry K. Reed - Hangin' Around

Hangin Around
1.
Sometimes I'd like to believe that in a life before, way before
I was born as a reckless pirate, no fear of live and death anymore
We sail the seven seas and steal gold from the rich man
and me and my crew we live as free and as good as we can
But today Im just hangin around and never really put my foot on the ground

2.
Or wish that I would live over two thousand years ago
I would live in roman times as a brother of Brutus in soul
But after we killed the king we really changed things somehow
there would be no more slavery and democracy would be all around
But today Im just hangin around and never really put my foot on the ground

3.
Or I wish that I would live in the middle age as an rebellious scientist
but other than Brecht's Gallilei I would somehow manage to resist
the churches devlish ways and put it all to an end
there would be no inquisition and no crusaders would have had been sent
But today Im just hangin around and never really put my foot on the ground

4.
Sometimes I wish I would live two hundred years from now
everything would have changed, everything would be different somehow
everyone would have equal rights and humanity came to its senses
and a real lesson would have been learned from all historys consequences
But today Im just hangin around and never really put my foot on the ground

5.
Mostly I complain at home and I bet I'm not alone
Everyone has it in himself, the wish to be someone else
someone good
