Brick House - Down from Day to Night

Came out of my sleep static as a sheep
Then accelerated into my boots
The sky was bright without a sun in sight
Needed nothing but the news
Went for a bite, gave a display of my might
A show of cool for the crew
Worked on a roof and I went on giving proof
When all of a sudden I remembered you

Every day I wake up feeling fine
The linen's stripped from my eyes
Then something else occurs and it's the same every time
But I'm down from day to night

It's about four o'clock when my heart starts to stop
And I stutter home to my wife
I plainly see that she still loves me
And I damn my own eyes
Then I take to bed, there's a fire in my head
That works in wheels whirling around
I think I love her, I think I love her, I think I do
Now take those damn wheels down

Every day I wake up feeling fine
The linen's stripped from my eyes
Then something else occurs and it's the same every time
But I'm down from day to night

He sits in his best leather suit
With a tapestry of socialist stickers plastered to his boots
He sits and he wonders how they all stay so calm
In the presence of that slippery blue bomb

And she's in the corner with a hand on the wall
The other clutching the glass finished after the last call
She's at the point of vomiting but she doesn't feel full
And like everyone else she's looking at him knowing the pin has been pulled

Ever since he heard the words said that
I've been waiting for someone just like you
But with blue eyes

The man with the plan takes on many coats
He wears every style of hair and his every idea floats
He's calm but his concern rumbles his aplomb
And beneath the coats he quakes with love for the blue bomb

And far from there the instigator's got her finger on the button
If she's feeling suicidal she might issue a summons
She's a sequence of impulses, unknowable and unknown
And Mr. Dynamite will try to hold her in until the day that we won't

And he won't since he heard the words said that
I've been waiting for someone just like you
But with blue eyes

Every day I wake up feeling fine
The linen's stripped from my eyes
Then something else occurs and it's the same every time
But I'm down from day to night
