It was written in the sky this morning
The break of day right before my eyes
The clouds in the sky looked away
Drifting overhead afternoon

A poet beneath a tree read a book
The words on the pages looked the same
As the day lapsed by he understood
And at last went home to find his pen

A brook outside his cabin rushed along
It broke into a stream on down the mountain
And there the water fell into the river
And at the end of the day into the lake

Another day will be here soon
It won't be as this one was
The sun may shine or rain may fall
It rhymes that you have to enjoy them all
